Competition watchdog proposes fuel task force and weekly price index

Bulgaria's competition watchdog is proposing 23 measures for the fuel market, including a national task force under the Council of Ministers and a weekly official fuel index. The index would track pump prices, international benchmarks, margins, stocks, and fuel movement through the supply chain. For drivers, that could make it easier to judge whether pump-price changes follow the market or reflect local pressure. The package also includes stronger supply-chain oversight, a refinery continuity plan, and targeted compensation options if prices spike sharply.

Temporary restrictions continue on AM Struma and through Kresna gorge

On AM Struma in Kyustendil region, traffic toward Blagoevgrad at km 53 is using only the overtaking lane from 20 May until 08:30 on 22 May because of warranty repairs to bridge joints. In Kresna gorge, queues are forming while asphalt is replaced between Stara Kresna and Kresna; traffic there alternates through one lane under signal control. If you are travelling toward Blagoevgrad, Sandanski, or Greece, allow extra time and avoid risky overtakes.

Danube Bridge at Ruse: full closure planned on 4 June for repairs

The road agency says reinforcement work for the new concrete panels on the 320-metre repair section of Danube Bridge at Ruse is complete. On 4 June, the bridge will close to all vehicles: cars will be stopped from 09:00 to 21:00, while trucks will remain stopped until 09:00 on 5 June. The closure is needed for the concrete-joint works to cure properly. Until then, traffic continues in stages, two-way, in the carriageway where crews are not working.
